I have been asked numerous times for my opinion on where to find truly affordable web hosting for a small business.I always answer the same way and that is with a question of my own. Before we can answer the question of the web hosting company, small business owners need to define "What defines affordable for me as the small business owner? In other words, there must be a balance. Affordable doesn't just mean inexpensive. The affordable web hosting service that you are paying for must also be reliable, have help readily available, and must have the protection in place that can guarantee that your intellectual property is safe. Let's take a look at these 3 factors a little more in depth. Reliability
What does reliability mean for a small business owner? Everything. Without a reliable web hosting company the success of your product(s) is put in jeopardy. Not what a small business owner wants to hear is it? The onus is on small business owners to do their research because every dollar is accounted for. The luxury of being able to lose hundreds and potentially thousands of dollars and clients simply isn't there. That is one of the reasons I compiled a review of what I believe are the top three web hosting companies on the internet and you can find the link to that review belowHelp Readily Available
There is more to having help readily available than just saying that you do. In my experience, I have run across several companies who claim to offer 24 hour support. This can be very misleading however as you click on the "support" tab and you are kicked to a list of frequently asked questions, or a support ticket fill out form where you have to describe your issue and then wait for it to find itself in the hands of support staff. You can usually expect your answer within the next 24 hours. Not cool in my opinion. I want help when I need it because as a small business owner I don't have the time to wait on an answer. A good web hosting company will have just that.
Protection
The protection of your intellectual property (Everything on your website), is paramount. You could potentially be exposing not only everything you have on your website to hackers, viruses, phishing scams, malware, etc, but every piece of information that you have put into the web host's database could be at risk as well. Credit card numbers, addresses, and names filter their way across the internet every day. Don't let yours be one of them. Check for specifics of what kinds of protections they offer.
Again on my review of web hosting companies, I go over what I believe are the top 3 web hosting services companies and give them an "Out of 5" ranking. You can Find That Here As a small business owner, your website is your baby. It was set up to offer a service of some sort to someone. Your website will appeal to your audience, and as a result you will begin to see your authority begin to grow. This in turn will generate even more traffic as you add content to your new website. Before all that however comes the decision of determining who will be your web hosting company. I hope I have made that decision just a little easier!
